Epoxy Flooring in Clermont, FL

Epoxy flooring in Clermont often lands in a garage full of bicycles. The city's National Training Center opened in 2001 and hosts triathlons, duathlons and cross-country events, and twenty athletes who trained in Clermont competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics. The city even adopted the slogan Choice of Champions in 2014. Many homes here have garages that work as bike shops and gyms.

Floors for training gear

Bike stands, trainers, weights and wet running shoes are hard on bare concrete. Chain lube and sweat leave stains. A flake floor with a chemical-resistant topcoat wipes clean and hides scuffs. Rubber mats over the coating protect heavy lifting zones without trapping moisture.

Hills in a flat state

Clermont sits on the northern end of the Lake Wales Ridge, with rolling hills that are unusual for the Florida peninsula. Hillside lots can drain toward a garage, pushing water onto or under the slab. We look at grading during the estimate and test moisture before choosing a primer.

Heat and the occasional freeze

The record high here is 105 F and the record low is 17 F. A hot slab can make epoxy set too fast, so we start early on summer days. On rare cold nights, we pick products that cure in cooler air or wait for a warmer window.

From groves to subdivisions

Citrus groves were the economic base through the mid-1900s, until freezes and development took over. Population grew from 9,333 in 2000 to 43,021 in 2020, more than 250 percent. Many garages are new, and new slabs need time to cure and a grind before coating.

Keeping training spaces bright

A garage that doubles as a bike shop or gym needs good light. Pale gray or white-based flake reflects overhead lighting and makes a small bolt or a dropped valve cap easy to spot. If the garage door stays open in afternoon sun while you train, a topcoat built to resist UV holds its color instead of turning yellow.
